Baltimore County Public Schools will pay the AP exams fees for all College and Career Ready 11th and 12th grade students, who are enrolled in the AP course, and are taking the AP exam for the first time will be paid for by BCPS. There is no longer a cap or limit to the number of AP exams covered by BCPS if the student meets the criteria.
All other students will pay the fees listed in the chart below. On September 4, an email was sent to all families regarding how to access the Universal Fee Waiver form in FOCUS. If your family qualifies for a waiver based on that form, please complete it by October 7, 2024.
There are ways students can incur extra fees, however, so please pay careful attention to registration dates and deadlines. See the following chart for additional exam fee information:

Late order fee
Exams ordered between November 1 and March 15 will incur a late order fee. This fee doesn’t apply to exams for students that transfer into the school. Exams will not be ordered after March 15.

Unused/canceled exam fee
If you decide after the November 1 ordering deadline not to take an exam that was ordered for you, there is a $40 fee. The $40 fee applies to any unused or canceled exam, including an exam ordered for a student who qualifies for a College Board fee reduction. It’s important to tell your AP coordinator if you decide not to take an exam. This includes dropping a course after 1st quarter (last day of the 1st quarter October 31, 2024)
This fee doesn’t apply if you transfer out of a school.

Avoidable absence
Avoidable absences during the AP testing schedule will be charged a $40 rescheduling fee if we are able to reschedule the exam.
