Pennies for Patients
Students may sponsor this event and gain Student Service Learning Hours.Honored Patient: This year is sure to be a great year for the Pennies For Patients Campaign. We have invited a new honored patient to share in the fun. Olivia Penuell is six years old and a student at St. Ursula’s in Parkville. Olivia was diagnosed when she was four years old after suffering from an unexplained fever for a number of weeks.
Her parents took her to the doctor where a series of test was performed. After the blood work came back that Olivia had leukemia. Over the next 7 months Olivia was regularly taken to the hospital where she stayed for four day stretches, receiving chemo treatments and fighting to beat her cancer. We are thrilled to report that Olivia celebrated the end of her treatments this summer and is well on the road to remission and a cure.
Materials: Our materials just keep getting better! We have all new materials including collection boxes.
FOR EVERY CHILD! Also this year we have brought back the Pennant Program. Every classroom that raises over $100 can earn a pennant to hang in their room in recognition of their outstanding efforts.
Dates: Pennies For Patients will be offered from January to March this year. We have seen that these are our most successful participation months and we want to give all our energy to making the campaigns thrive. If you prefer a date that does not fall under this time frame, please feel free to request it on your registration form and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.
