JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT
Shaun Cohen <scohen3@bcps.org>
The purpose of Junior Achievement is to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business, and economics to improve the quality of their lives. For the third year at Dulaney High School, Ms. Cohen’s two Entrepreneurship classes are participating in a program called the JA Company Program, where they will have the opportunity to shape the free enterprise system. They are running their own business from capitalization to liquidation. They are discovering how effective management and hard work are the keys to business success. They are sharing in the decisions they must make for their JA company. Their JA company operations are the same as those of any corporation, but their success depends on the combined efforts of all the company members.
Each class has formed their own company: Lion’s Den Customs and B & E Enterprise.
After evaluating various products and services, doing market analysis and market research, the students have decided on their products: LION’S DEN DECALS and DHS KEYCHAINS. There will be a limited number of decals and keychains.
The Lion’s Den decals and DHS Keychains can be bought from students in Ms. Cohen’s classes.
At the end of the project when we liquidate the company all money given in stocks will be given to the owners, depending on the success of sales. Most importantly, this class is learning what it takes to run a business to help them determine if this is something they want to look into for their future.
The decals and keychains will be sold at sporting events, during and after school, and at local gatherings. Look out for them and don’t miss your opportunity to get your decals and keychains today and support the student’s in Ms. Cohen’s class.
